Restore your Profiles and PermissionSets after Salesforce outage
On the weekend of 17th May 2019, Salesforce reported an incident that resulted in unexpected modifications of profiles and permissions for a number of impacted customers. Detailed description of the issue can be found here: https://success.salesforce.com/issues_view?Id=a1p3A000001SHDl
If your organizations were impacted by the above issue, this blog describes the options that you can use to restore profiles and permissions using ClickDeploy.
Restore from a sandbox
For most organizations, sandboxes were not impacted by the incident and you can use your full copy sandbox as a source to restore your production instance’s profiles & permission sets.
When deploying Profiles using ClickDeploy, you can select a specific set of objects or field permissions that will be included in the profile deployments. Alternatively, you can elect to deploy all related permissions using wildcards, if you are confident that your sandbox fully reflects the state of production prior to the outage.
In Deploy Options, please make sure you select Deploy Type as ‘Profile Only’. This ensures that only the profile permissions will be included in the deployment. For more information regarding profile deployments using ClickDeploy, please visit our help center : https://clickdeploy.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115009645608-Deploy-profiles
Restore from a git repository
If you have been using Git as a source of truth or a metadata backup, you can restore profiles and permission sets by deploying from your git repository to your production instance, like below.
